PROFESSIONAL FEES AND EXPENSES

For Ship Arrest or Release anywhere in India

Billing rates for ship arrest or release in India for the period April 01, 2026 until March 31, 2028 is indicated hereinbelow but disbursements may differ depending on the jurisdiction/ high court where the admiralty suit /ship needs to be arrested in India.

Breakdown and methodology for ship arrest work in India is as per below:
A. Professional Fees: Flat fee of USD 1800
B. Institution/Court Fees: As per applicability of the High Court
C. Counsel/ Associate Fees: Depending on the level of counsel and associate expenses
D. Travelling and Other expenses: On actual (if any)
E. Launch Hire: For executing warrant of arrest on ship will depend, this rate will apply if vessel at anchorage
F. Court departmental and other expenses: On actual
G. Photocopying and other Misc Expenses: On actual

Head A above is our Professional Fees while Head B to G are Disbursements/ Third party expenses

The above computation of fees and expenses are until filing of the admiralty suit; making an application for ship arrest; appearing in court; and completion of service of the order of arrest/ warrant of arrest.

Our Professional fees after the order of arrest and/or completion of service of the order of arrest are computed separately stage wise.

We compute our fees and expenses and forward the same with a request for accountable advance and on receipt of the advance payment we commence work.

To proceed with filing of a suit we will need a power of attorney. A format of the same shall be forwarded once appointment of our law firm is confirmed.

During this period, atleast one solicitors will be working on the given file, also when required more lawyers, para-legal, associates will be working on the file to ensure that quality service is delivered, at no extra cost. Disbursements will depend on jurisdiction where the ship is and also as to the high court where the admiralty suit is filed in India.

In the suit claim amount, a cost of approx USD 20,000 is added to the claim amount/ particulars of claim and the same is claimed from the opponent towards legal cost.

Our billing rates are computed in USD, GBP, EURO or INR only, depending on the requirements of client.

We request you to prepare a detailed briefing note, synopsis date wise with all supporting documents, of the matter/ case and forward the same to us along with detailed computation of your claim amount to enable us to understand and advise you on ship arrest and take the matter ahead.

Ship Release
For release of a ship from order of arrest our professional charges are computed on USD 145 per hour + Disbursements on actual. We also work on stage wise lump sum fees + Disbursements on actual.

Shipping Arbitration
For Shipping arbitration work within India be it ad-hoc or institutional our charges are computed on USD 145 per hour + Disbursements on actual. We also work on stage wise lump sum fees + Disbursements on actual.

Other Shipping Litigation
For Shipping Litigation other than ship arrest our charges are computed on USD 145 per hour + Disbursements on actual. We also work on stage wise lump sum fees + Disbursements on actual.
